Salary: 34,643 to 37,530

Are you the dynamic individual who would jump at an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction and future of RSPB's largest reserve in Wales? It is in the development stage of a ca 7million National Lottery Heritage Fund Lake Vyrnwy Experience Project, led by the RSPB and delivered in partnership with many stakeholders.

Lake Vyrnwy is a landscape of over 10,000 hectares encompassing a wide variety of habitats. Moorland including 3,000 hectares of blanket bog, the quintessentially Welsh ffridd, forestry and Western Atlantic Woodland, lowland farmland and hay meadows, and of course the reservoir.

The whole catchment is owned by Hafren Dyfrdwy. Over 4,500 hectares are managed on a farm as the largest organic farm in England and Wales. Across the remainder of the estate, RSPB works with stakeholders, the wider community; Hafren Dyfrdwy, the local communities of Llanwddyn and Abertridwr and other local businesses to develop a shared vision that secures sustainability for all.

Do you have the vision, leadership skills and ability to inspire, be able to find compromises as well as be uncompromising in working towards the vision for the site - and be a strong advocate for the RSPB's mission on site?

A strong business acumen and financial experience will be key to support the Farm Manager. There are many challenges facing our farm, with many unknowns surrounding how the future of farming subsidies and post CAP payments could look. You'll need to bring some innovative thinking to develop an approach which delivers for all our objectives.
