This progressive family owned rural estate is located at the heart of the South Downs National Park.


The Cowdray Estate is both home to Lord and Lady Cowdray and their children as well as a collection of thriving businesses.  The 4th Viscount, Michael Pearson, together with Lady Marina Cowdray, oversee the management of the Estate, through the day to day leadership of its Chief Executive, Jonathan Russell.


The Estate is steeped in history and heritage. It contains the ruins of one of England most important early Tudor Houses and is the home of British Polo. There is also an award-winning Farm Shop & Café, a championship Golf Course, Accommodation, Wellbeing Centre and Cowdray House, a luxury event venue which sit alongside the more traditional estate activities including farming, forestry and property management.


Cowdray is a member of the highly respected Estates Business Group which brings together leading landed Estates from across the UK. It is justifiably seen as a market leader in delivering unparalleled experience for all who visit, as well as live and work on the Estate. 


Cowdray Estate comprises of 2,750 ha of certified woodland, comprising 55% conifer and 45% broadleaves.


The Position


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a key appointment of Head Forester to join the senior leadership team at Cowdray.


The Head Forester will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all Forestry activity at Cowdray, with the aim of maintaining and enhancing both the commercial and amenity value of the woodland.


In addition is a key requirement to ensure the safety and compliance of all forest operations together with proactively addressing the risk arising from dangerous trees.
