Shadow Ranger Voluntary Placements


Forestry Commission England are providing a voluntary placement known as Shadow Rangers. These placements are targeted at individuals seeking to gain experience in the countryside sector. 


A number of 6 - 12 month placement are available across Central England Forest District. Volunteering 1-3 days per week, each placement allows volunteers to develop on the job skills in their chosen work area.  Opportunities available are within the following teams - National Forest and Nottinghamshire Community Woodland teams with their community rangers, Salcey and Fineshade with the Recreation rangers, Forest Planning team (Sherwood), Bushcraft team (Sherwood).


A range of formal and informal training opportunities with be provided throughout the 6 months, alongside work-based learning to allow individuals to develop a good range of skills and abilities during the programme.
