White Cliffs Countryside Partnership


The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports residence, Walmer Castle. As well as the coastline, the District has wonderful countryside, lush valleys and beautiful parks and gardens. 


Main duties

This is an exciting opportunity to join a great team and make a real difference to the landscape and heritage of the Dover area. Working closely with partner organisations, the Ranger will assist with the day-to-day management of a number of chalk grassland sites in and around Dover, including the Western Heights LNR, High Meadow LNR, Whinless Down LNR and South Foreland Valley SSSI. The Ranger will lead a range of community events, including volunteer conservation days and guided walks.


We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of habitat management, especially grassland management 
  • Experience of conservation grazing
  • Experience of installing a range of countryside furniture
  • Experience of working with volunteers on practical projects
  • Ability to engage with visitors/members of the public to ensure that the WCCP message is being communicated
  • A passion for wildlife
  • Understanding of wildlife and other land based legislation
  • Full Clean Driving License 


Some work outside of normal office hours will be required.
