Circa £25K pa, depending on qualifications and experience; 15 month fixed term/temporary contract; full-time 35 hours per week; post based at Curdridge, near Botley, Hampshire.


Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust has an opportunity for a secondment to its Policy & Advocacy team as a Freshwater Policy & Projects Officer.  This role is to help backfill the work of a current member of staff who is being seconded into a project role. This is an exciting role working within a dynamic team for 15 months on freshwater policy and projects, as well as being a point of contact for colleagues from other teams on freshwater issues as well as externally.


The role will work directly and through catchment partnerships on the Trustís portfolio of freshwater work with relevant government agencies, water companies and projects. This post will also be responsible for specific tasks on projects being delivered in-house by the Trust, working closely with others internally and externally.


We are seeking an experienced and effective officer with a proven track record of delivering a wide range of project and policy or advocacy work ideally covering the freshwater environment.  Experience of working on designated sites and with the statutory sector is also essential, as is a knowledge and understanding of relevant policy, legislation and practice affecting our local freshwater environment. A working understanding of the key issues and their remedies will be an advantage. The role requires a motivated and committed individual who is also a highly effective communicator, with experience of positively engaging a wide range of people.
