Field Ornithologist based in York



To carry out work in the field of wildlife ecology and management, focussing on birds and mammals. This will include: survey work, deployment of wildlife monitoring equipment (including bird detection radars), sampling for disease and other research and fieldwork as required.


The successful candidate will need to have excellent bird identification skills (which will be assessed at interview), have an ability to record data accurately and be proficient in the use of MS packages such as Word and Excel. Candidates who have a Bird Ringing Permit, experience of bird/bat handling would have an advantage.


Although the post is based at York, the post does require travel, mainly, within the UK but on occasions to EU or other overseas destinations. Field work will require, on occasions, anti-social hours.
