£14,960 - £17,003 (SCP 24-28) plus 7% pension (if eligible) (£24,933- £28,339 FTE)

22.5 hours per week (flexible work pattern considered)

3 year fixed-term contract


This role helps to protect local wildlife by engaging local communities with the restoration of Kings Meads nature reserve. 


Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust is the leading local charity working to create a Living Landscape rich in wildlife, for everyone. We are supported by over 22,000 members and, with a network of volunteers, we care for the beautiful wild places of Hertfordshire and Middlesex.


As part of the Reserves Team, the People and Wildlife Officer will raise awareness and begin to restore Kingís Meads nature reserve, Ware, as a valuable wetland environment with a unique industrial heritage. They will manage a Heritage Lottery funded project focused on habitat restoration and local community engagement.


They will design and implement a plan of walks, talks and volunteering events for the site, produce a new ten year management plan and lead on tracking and reporting progress to the project steering group.


We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and community engagement experience, good experience of practical habitat management and working with volunteers and a friendly approach with a sense of humour.
