About us

East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.

Our Countryside Team is responsible for managing a variety of sites including Seaton Wetlands and a range of Local and Community Nature Reserves. The team also provides a thriving outdoor learning service, supports an ever growing volunteer team and coordinates an exciting public events programme.

About the role

We have a challenging and exciting job opportunity to be at the heart of our engagement work with residents in Exmouth and to lead on creating wildlife and access enhancements across green spaces in the town. You will be responsible for delivering the exciting plans for the Wild Exmouth project, showcasing urban wildlife management and how nature can be good for all of us.  This 3 year programme will improve green spaces for people and wildlife, bring nature into resident’s lives and establish regular volunteer teams to deliver positive change.

Working closely with the Countryside Team Leader you will deliver the project plan, promote the work, and assist in preparing funding reports. You will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers, running practical conservation days, developing interpretation and delivering an exciting range of outdoor community engagement events.

About you

Brimming with fantastic ideas and the energy and commitment to turn them into reality, you will have a positive, can-do attitude to inspire others to make space for wildlife, get outdoors and enjoy the benefits of contact with nature.
