HQ and Outreach Manager: 4-month contract

A brilliant opportunity for a keen birder and naturalist to work with and help build our local bird conservation and education charity. While the role is to focus on management of the HQ, volunteers and visitor engagement, there will be opportunities to hone birding skills and take part in important outreach and conservation projects for the right candidate.

In spring 2018, charity Birds of Poole Harbour (BoPH) opened its new visitor engagement Head Quarters on Poole Quay. The HQ is a focal point for the charityís work around the harbour as well as an information rich environment for visitors to come and learn about the harbour and its birds. The charity was founded in 2013 with three key objectives in place, to educate and promote bird conservation, preservation and observation in and around the Poole Harbour area. The harbour itself benefits from national and international protection and to date has hosted 330 different species of bird. With its unique and diverse set of habitatís the Poole Harbour basin offers a mouth watering set of birding opportunities right the way through the year. However, knowing where and when to go, what to look out for and how to get there arenít always easy questions to answer, for both locals and visitors to the area. Our new BoPH HQ offers visitors the opportunity to get an in-depth insight into how to Ďbirdí the harbour and showcases our various outreach and conservation projects. The HQ also has a small retail section where binoculars, telescopes, books and postcards are sold.
