We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced manager to lead on the development and delivery of our exciting visitor experiences including events, education, interpretation and income generating opportunities on The Great Fen and throughout Peterborough. The Great Fen is one of the largest Living Landscape restoration projects of its type in Europe and is located between Peterborough and Huntingdon. You will need to have a wide variety of skills and a passion for inspiring your team, volunteers, stake-holders and the local communities. Excellent communication and leadership skills will be at the foundation of your work. Your work will also create the platform to help grow income for the Wildlife Trust through a wide variety of engagement opportunities including funding bids, donations, events and Wildlife Trust membership. 


The Wildlife Trust BCN is a leading provider of wildlife and community engagement opportunities in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire but we want nature to be much more than a day out. Our ethos is for wildlife to be part of people's everyday lives and to help people foster this connection to nature though the learning and engagement opportunities we provide. 


This role is central to achieving this with a focus on:

  • Developing and delivering community engagement activities to increase the involvement of local communities in the enjoyment, learning and participation of the Great Fen Living Landscape, Peterborough and other reserves within the Trust.
  • Developing opportunities to maximise income into the Wildlife Trust to help with the financial sustainability of the Communities & Wildlife department.
  • Overseeing the marketing and media of The Great Fen and Peterborough to ensure that we engage with active and potential visitors to maximise new engagement opportunities and new income streams.
  • Developing community involvement in the living landscape by recruiting, training and supporting volunteers.
  • Working closely with the Head of Communities and Wildlife and other members of the Communities & Wildlife team in developing the Trustís engagement programme.
