What it's like to work here

Clumber Park is one of the National Trust痴 most visited places. Originally home to the Dukes of Newcastle for over three centuries, it was once part of the famous Sherwood Forest until the Duke of Newcastle enclosed the estate as a hunting park for Queen Anne in 1707. Although there is no longer a house in the park, there are many clues of its grand past to explore.

Clumber Park is a special and important place. As a grade one registered park across all 3,800 acres, Clumber Park is one of the largest single block of SSSI in the midlands.

As part of our exciting new project, you値l aim to create over 450 acres of wood pasture, and help to restore Clumber Park痴 historic viewpoints and landscape. We want to crease a wildlife rich habitat, and a place which can be enjoyed for everyone.

What you'll be doing

As Area Ranger you値l manage a project of landscape change through our Countryside Stewardship schemes. Working in partnership with our tenants and building relationships with the Estate Manager and Food and Farming advisor, you値l deliver an effective work programme as part our project of parkland restoration with the Grade 1 registered parkland. You値l be leading on this project over 2 years to deliver a range of capital infrastructure items such water troughs and fencing and assist in the procurement and contractor management for livestock to graze these areas.

You値l also be responsible for helping ensure we communicate our important conservation work to a wide range of audiences, both new and existing. This will be achieved through events, guided walks and engagement with local communities and partners. You値l appreciate the need for our countryside sites to bring in income, so your business ideas will play an important part in the team痴 success.
