Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week on a rota basis 
Salary: £22,700 - £30,000 depending on experience plus 10% flat rate allowance for weekend and other out of hours working. 
Location: Weald Country Park and Belhus Woods

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Ranger to manage two of our Country Parks, Belhus Woods and Weald Country Park. The role requires experience in managing teams to ensure the parks are well maintained and to improve and provide the best facilities for our visitors. Your skills need to include the ability to lead and motivate others including positively contributing by being part of the Country Parks Management Team to ensure consistency and high quality services. 

Role specific accountabilities:

  • To initiate and provide activities, events and services for visiting public, third party hires, schools, community and special interest groups
  • To develop new approaches and innovative methods of operation to broaden the visitor base maximise income and increase footfall.
  • To take the lead on a variety of different projects
  • To carry out habitat management of the country park to ensure a clean and safe environment for park visitors
  • To carry out the management of the land to enhance its nature conversation, landscape, historic, recreational and amenity value as appropriate in order to achieve a high quality of land management
  • To promote, uphold and monitor country park legislation including byelaws, health and safety and other relevant legislation
  • Lead and manage Rangers to ensure the service objectives are met.
  • Carry out Performance management in line with ECC procedures

 

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Degree in countryside management or equivalent by experience in country park management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate good customer service skills
  • Understanding and experience of ecological/habitat management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in resource management including staff
