Environment/Heritage IT Consultant (24-40k depending on experience)

 

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals who have a good environmental or heritage related degree and well-developed IT skills to join our team based in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.

 

Exegesis SDM Ltd is a well-established environmental and heritage GIS and software consultancy (established in 1995), specialising in countryside and coastal zone management, digital mapping & database solutions for government and conservation organisations in the UK and Europe.

 

We have developed and market the leading Public Rights of Way, Conservation Management Planning, Heritage and Fly Tipping management applications in the UK.  We support custom systems for marine conservation, red squirrel management, historic place names, bat management, to name a few.  We carry out aerial surveys, habitat mapping and a wide range of consultancy from viewshed analysis to ancient woodland surveys.

 

The position will be based within the Rights of Way team, Historic Environment team, or within the Conservation and general consultancy team, depending on your experience and interests.

 

The varied work will be dependant on your particular skill set, but is likely to include web, desktop and mobile product management, consultancy, technical support, map and text data capture and processing, survey design etc

 

We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

  • Well-developed IT skills
  • Graduate qualifications in an environmental discipline and/or an IT discipline, eg conservation management, archaeology, etc
  • Confident presentation and client-facing skills
  • The maturity to be self-organised and motivated.
  • A driving licence

 

And 4 or more of the following:

  • Database skills: SQL server, MS Access
  • Web site management skills: css, html, XML, report design etc
  • Web site design skills-GIS use, configuration and analysis experience, eg ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS
  • Project management experience
  • Environmental information management experience, eg Conservation, Public Rights of Way, Heritage etc
