Teaching Trees is an exciting woodland learning project which delivers hands-on, curriculum linked activities to primary school groups.  Linking schools with well managed local woodlands and forests, our sessions demonstrate the importance of trees for wildlife, for timber, for the environment and for fun!

We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals, with engaging teaching styles, to take on these roles based in Grantham (with other sites around Lincolnshire and into Northamptonshire) and Ceredigion.  The successful candidates will work on a freelance basis, developing and leading education sessions for KS1 and KS2 children, helping to inspire in them a love of woodlands as well as an understanding of why, and how, we need to manage them.

Sessions will be delivered predominantly at RFS membersí woodlands, ranging from small farm sites, to large country estates.

Candidates are likely to have a higher education qualification in teaching, ecology, environmental science or forestry and will have experience of developing and delivering creative outdoor education activities.  They will need to be confident in marketing to schools and liaising with teachers and woodland owners and must have an excellent understanding of health and safety and child welfare.  For the Ceredigion role, fluency in Welsh is essential.
