Role: Environmental Site Supervisor


Five Rivers Environmental Contracting Ltd is a specialist environmental contracting company with a head office located in the Avon valley, just north of Salisbury, Wiltshire.  Founded in 1994, we have over 20 years of experience dedicated to nature conservation and habitat creation, restoration and management, particularly on environmentally sensitive and challenging sites.


Five Rivers is a rapidly expanding company and as our team continues to grow we are able to offer a vast amount of experience in all aspects of environmental consulting and management works. Within the operations team we have permanent staff and a number of subcontractors in various roles. As a member of this close-knit team you will be given the opportunity to take on direct responsibilities of different aspects of the operational side of the business with career development and training. 


What you'll be doing

You will be joining a staff of 25 covering all areas of the UK, with a direct focus within the operations side of the team which consists of Environmental Operations Manager, Environmental Site Manager, Environmental Site Supervisors, Environmental Restoration Technicians. Each of the team members has skills and specialities which allow for a vast range of knowledge and experience sharing.


You will play a key role in delivering and supporting the expansion of the business through direct operations and management of some aspects of the team. You will work closely with the ESM using the process of management planning to ensure we identify the best opportunities for more efficient and safe working.


Who we're looking for

  • Lead authority on site among the operations team in absence of Environmental Site Manager
  • Someone that can lead by example, with a keen eye for detail
  • Manage staff and on site works on day to day basis
  • Maintain all site files and associated paperwork
  • Compile and update risk assessments and method statements
  • Maintain H&S and Wellbeing on site, ensuring all employees and subcontractors comply to PPE requirements
  • Completion of all projects to the required best practise



  • Valid CSCS card or equivalent
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders
  • Experience of managing field teams
  • A commitment to promoting Health, Safety and Wellbeing within the company
  • An area of specialism in one or more of the following: Environmental Contracting, River Restoration, Construction, Countryside Management, Farming, Engineering, Forestry
  • A full clean UK driving licence
  • Physically fit and hard working


Desirable skills

  • CITB SSSTS qualified or equivalent
  • Experience of operating plant, ideally with current CPCS tickets
  • Knowledge and experience of CDM 2015
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Ecological knowledge


The package

Competitive salary, which will be reviewed on an annual basis. You will receive 20 days holiday, plus public bank holidays, with an additional day of leave accrued per year of service. The role will require periods of working away Monday-Friday, for which you will receive a staying away allowance. You will have an annual training budget of 500, exclusive of any initial training agreed. For the right candidate, there will be career progression depending on aspirations and suitability.
