Role: Environmental Site Manager

Five Rivers Environmental Contracting Ltd is a specialist environmental contracting company with a head office located in the Woodford valley, Wiltshire. Founded in 1994, we have over 20 years of experience dedicated to nature conservation and habitat creation, restoration and management, particularly on environmentally sensitive and challenging sites.

Within the operations team we have both permanent staff and subcontractors. We invest heavily in our people, including a 500 training budget and use of a company car, and as a small company, there are considerable opportunities for progression.


What you'll be doing
You will be joining a staff of 25 covering all areas of the UK, with a direct focus on delivering major environmental improvement projects. The operations team includes a wide range of skills and specialities, which gives us a pool of expertise with opportunities for knowledge sharing.


You will play a key role in delivering major environmental improvement schemes through direct management of our on-site teams.

Who we're looking for

  • Lead authority on site among the operations team.
  • Manage staff and works programme.
  • Maintain all site files and associated paperwork.
  • Provide input into risk assessments and method statements.
  • Custodian of H&S and Wellbeing on site, ensuring all employees and subcontractors comply to legal requirements.
  • Management of client interface and public perception in a professional manner
  • Minimisation of waste and promotion of environmental best practice
  • Completion of all projects to the required best practice.



  • Someone that can lead by example and have a keen eye for detail
  • Valid CSCS card or equivalent
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders
  • Experience of managing field teams
  • A commitment to promoting Health, Safety and Wellbeing within the company
  • An area of specialism in one or more of the following: Environmental Contracting, River Restoration, Construction, Countryside Management, Farming, Engineering, Forestry
  • A full clean UK driving licence
  • Physically fit and hard working


Desirable skills

  • CITB SSSTS qualified or equivalent
  • CITB SMSTS qualified
  • Knowledge and experience of CDM 2015
  • Experience of operating plant, ideally with current CPCS tickets
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Ecological knowledge


Our offer
Competitive salary depending on experience, which will be reviewed on an annual basis. You will receive 20 days holiday, plus public bank holidays, with an additional day of leave accrued per year of service. The role will require periods of working away Monday-Friday, for which you will receive a staying away allowance and accommodation. You will have an annual training budget of 500, exclusive of any initial training agreed. For the right candidate, there will be career progression depending on aspirations and suitability.
