Countryside Manager - Wyre Community Land Trust

Wyre Community Land Trust undertakes a range of practical work in and around the Wyre Forest, a large ancient woodland complex on the Shropshire/ Worcestershire border.  It directly manages about 200 ha of farmland, conservation land and woodland across this area for a range of partners and private landowners, and also does a range of contract work for others.

The basis of the Land Trustís work has been to find ways to sustainably and economically manage often fragmented areas of landscape from species rich meadows, orchards, heathland and neglected ancient woodlands. To this end we have developed conservation grazing and a herd of dexter cattle, have a woodyard and sawmill, and work extensively with the local community. We are a unique social enterprise organisation championing new ways to manage traditional and cherished landscapes.

Over the last two years we have expanded and are now looking for a new post to manage our practical work. This includes a variety of tasks covering woodlands, forestry, fencing, hedging, orchards, farming, conservation grazing, woodland products. We are looking for a practical self motivated person who can work with our team to deliver and manage varied work programmes. This would include implementing the work using our own labour, contractors and volunteers. The post will be involved in specifying and costing work, creating and understanding site and management plans.
