Gwenffrwd Dinas is a breathtakingly beautiful location set in the heart of mid Wales. A traditional mosaic of hedgerow-bound fields blends through unspoilt, steep-sided Atlantic Oak Woodland to Ffridd and then way up to heather-clad moorland. Crashing white water blasts through a rocky landscape exquisitely preserved from the ravages of mankind through isolation and inaccessibility. We are blessed with exceptional populations of key species such as pied flycatcher, redstart and wood warbler but also celebrate superb lichen and bryophyte habitat.

We are at an exciting point in the history of the reserve, just launching into an ambitious 10 year management plan which means a huge amount of input on the ground in a range of habitats. This is where you come in. You'll be looking forward to a highly dynamic work environment where you think on your feet and where you endlessly weigh up priorities. The reserve is isolated and while you will often be working alone you will enjoy excellent support from a small but highly motivated team. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, energy and a sensitivity to the ecology of the site are basic requirements. You'll also need to enjoy people, working closely with our tenant farmers, helping to maintain the excellent connections we have nurtured with local community and interacting with visitors.

Contrast this with Cwm Clydach. A small reserve right on the doorstep of Swansea it was a working coal mine in 1962!  It is now a well-loved green space in an urban environment: a more dedicated and positive team of local reserve volunteers you will not find.  Alive with people it is a tree-lined river site where people get fresh air and exercise and feel the pressures of daily life relieved. At Cwm Clydach we enable folk to celebrate the simple pleasures of nature. And how nature has reclaimed the place under our watch! We now have otter and silver-washed fritillary. Cwm Clydach is a delicious haven evolving from a gritty history where your focus will be people, infrastructure, visitor safety and above all encouraging nature to abound and astound.

Two very different sites offering a superb opportunity with variety galore.
