36 Hrs/Week

Salary: £19,297 to £21,399

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust is an environmental charity which delivers a range of Countryside services on behalf of Fife Council.


We are seeking Temporary Assistant Countryside Rangers to support and work alongside our Countryside Ranger Team. Working primarily in the West Sands, St Andrews but will include working Fife wide. They will help to manage the West Sands area and other associated sites as required. The majority of the work focuses on dealing with site management, visitors, the local community and educational groups, although the range of work is diverse.


With a key role in ensuring that the management of our sites fulfil their role in relation to their natural heritage importance, the Assistant Rangers will ensure the provision of access for recreational and educational activities and will act as a first point of contact and ‘first impression’ provider for users and visitors to these areas. They will engage with users, providing information and advice where required and act or report accordingly. Particular duties and responsibilities attached to the job may vary from time to time without changing the overall purpose of the job.  


Posts will be based within Fife at the West Sands, St Andrews/Pitcairn Centre, Glenrothes but may require travel between the Trust’s other bases throughout Fife and therefore a current full driving licence suitable for use in the UK is required.


The successful candidates will have a good knowledge and keen interest in the countryside and will have some experience in the practical work of countryside management through both relevant academic qualifications and experience. They will be able to demonstrate an excellent ability in being able communicate easily with a wide range of people.


A current first aid certificate is desirable.
