1 year fixed term full time contract

£20,472 per annum

Closing date 10th March 2019

An Assistant Instructor post is available for 1 year, starting from, or as close to 25th March 2019, working with both Westminster City Council and The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to expand their current outdoor education programmes at Paddington Recreation Ground and Holland Park, allowing more children to experience nature in their local park.  The sites are wonderful outdoor spaces with woodland, ponds, meadows and classrooms.

This is a great opportunity to work with two teams of professional, experienced Instructors and Forest School leaders to help run environmental day visits, Forest School programmes and holiday activities.  Over the year you’ll undertake a level 3 Forest School training, first aid and child protection training.

You will gain experience in many different areas: liaising with schools to arrange visits, planning sessions, publicising holiday activities, running activities, helping to care for the animals at Holland Park Ecology Centre as well as developing the range of provisions we offer.

Throughout the year you’ll be paired with one of our experienced Instructors in both teams that will mentor you in developing your teaching skills and technical knowledge. They’ll provide one to one support in completing your Forest School portfolio and continued professional development.

This position will suit a graduate, or someone with equivalent experience, who is interested in starting a career in outdoor learning. We are looking for someone with a passion for facilitating children’s learning outside and who can work well as part of two teams.
