Secrets of the Solent: Project Manager

Circa £35K pa, depending on qualifications and experience; 4 year fixed term contract; full-time 35 hours per week; post based at Curdridge, near Botley, Hampshire.


Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (HIWWT) has secured funding from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting new project - Secrets of the Solent.  This four year project will open peopleís eyes to the world beneath the waves and the wonderful marine heritage they have right on their doorstep and encourage local people and sea users to take positive action to protect the Solent.


The post will lead and co-ordinate the delivery phase of the Secrets of the Solent project building on previous work to implement a high profile, high-quality, well supported programme of projects focussing on raising awareness and behaviour change.  The role will need to continue to build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholder groups including sea-users, marine organisations, local authorities and local communities. In addition, the post will manage the Secrets of the Solent Community Engagement Officer and contractors, and will also work with a wide range of HIWWT specialist staff including the projectís Communications Officer.


We are seeking an inspirational, effective and experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of leading, delivering and managing HLF (or similar) projects including budgetary control and reporting.  The role requires a highly effective communicator, with experience of positively engaging and influencing a diverse range of audiences including maintaining and developing key partner and stakeholder relationships.  A knowledge and understanding of the marine environment and conservation issues is essential, so too is prior experience of working with key sea user groups, including commercial fishermen and recreational boaters.
