Summary

The voice of our landscapes, conservation champions and lovers of all things outdoors, you’ll help to keep Britain’s natural heritage wonderful. Working at the very popular Wimpole Estate, come rain or shine, your love of the outdoors will inspire others as you strive to ensure the parkland and wider estate are beautifully presented, ecologically rich and continue to take our visitors’ breath away.

What it's like to work here

This impressive mansion and home farm is the only National Trust property that manages all its visitor attractions and activities in-house. Visitor numbers have increased rapidly in recent years and Wimpole is regarded as one of our most successful properties in terms of growth and innovation. The estate covers some 1100 ha of farmland, historic parkland, lakes and woodland as well as some outstanding landscape features such its folly and impressive avenues. Wildlife conservation is at the heart of our work at Wimpole and exciting infrastructure projects make this a great time to be joining us. As expected for such a popular location, work at Wimpole is fast-paced, but as part of the team you’ll enjoy flexible working conditions.

What you'll be doing

With your endless passion for our work, you’ll help with the protection and care of habitats, wildlife, and the fabric of the estate, and your passion will inspire others to love this beautiful place as much as you do. Our practical conservation work is a priority at Wimpole but you will need to find time to engage with visitors, volunteers and many others who value this special place. As an easily identifiable member of the Ranger team, on your best day you will be creating lasting memories for everyone either directly or through the differences you make at Wimpole.

You’ll make sure that, at every twist and turn of these fantastic landscapes, we’re delivering outstanding outdoors experiences and excellent conservation work. You’ll share our common goal with customers and build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the National Trust. So whether you’re maintaining our extensive green spaces or assisting with guided visitor walks, through to delivering a wide range of rewarding habitat work, no two days will be the same.

You’ll also share and promote the work that we do here, ensuring special places like these are here to be both protected and enjoyed by everyone for ever. This will see you responding to queries and explaining the value of the work being undertaken. After all, your passion and dedication could fire the imagination that makes a visitor become a supporter for the rest of their life.
