Apprentice Forest Craftsperson (10 posts nationwide) – Forestry Commission England

Salary: £17,316pa – various locations


Forestry Commission England is recruiting 10 apprentices, to take up posts in September/October 2018. If you would like to play a hands-on role in managing the nation’s woodlands and forests for people, wildlife and the economy - we want to hear from you.


Our apprentices gain experience in a full range of practical forest management skills including chainsaw use, planting & establishment, plant protection, and timber measurement. During the 2-year apprenticeship you will work under the supervision of experienced staff, as well as taking part in regular off-the-job training provided by our own dedicated team. Successful apprentices will gain a Level-2 vocational qualification in forestry as well as a range of certificates of competence for equipment including chainsaws, brushcutters and clearing saws.


Apprenticeship posts are fixed-term appointments for 2 years. While there is no guarantee of permanent employment on completion, apprentices will have the opportunity to apply for permanent roles and past cohorts have had a very high success rate.
