Oxfordshire’s countryside is a hugely valuable resource and we’re looking for an experienced countryside access professional to lead the discipline for the authority.


You will be a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate advocate for countryside access; a professional who understands the importance of the public rights of way network and has enhanced technical and legal knowledge with a proven record of achievement. Not afraid to experiment and develop new initiatives in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders including voluntary & special interest groups.


The role requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the aim of providing a modern, responsive and effective service delivering good quality access to the countryside for the county’s residents and visitors across the 2600-mile public rights of way network. This is a demanding, varied but rewarding role. The post includes generous leave, flexible working, access to the local government pension scheme as well as a car allowance. The post is on a career grade with wide salary scales. Starting point is negotiable depending on skills and experience, but we are looking to appoint towards the top of the grade where appropriate.
