Job Purpose:

 

The purpose of this role is to deliver regulatory actions and contribute to work plans over several statutory work areas including;

 

  • Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR)
  • Designated conservation sites (SSSIís, SACís, NNRís)
  • Water Framework Directive
  • Fisheries
  • Agriculture
  • Water Resources Act
  • Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (Wales)

 

This advertised role maybe within a Natural Resource Management team or an Industry &/or Waste Regulatory Team.

 

Duties may include:

 

  • Responding to and assisting in the management of incidents to ensure that the environmental impact is minimised.  This will include out of hours work and on call duties.
  • Protecting and enhancing the environment through environmental regulation and application of Sustainable Management of Natural Resources principles.
  • Assessment of compliance of EPR Environment Permits and exemptions.
  • Providing customers with advice and guidance relating to a range of environmental issues such as waste legislation, water quality, biodiversity, conservation, angling, pollution prevention and mitigation.
  • Investigating and gathering evidence of illegal activity and providing witness statements to support enforcement case files.
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of customers and partners, as well as working with members of the public, communities, land owners, SMEís and local authorities.

 

Job Specific Criteria:

 

  1. Customer Relations - Experience of working within a customer-related field is necessary (Essential).
  2. A full UK driving licence (Essential).
  3. Education to degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline (Desirable).
  4. Relevant professional accreditation qualification, such as professional membership (Desirable).
  5. Proven relevant work experience within the area of environment management or regulation or enforcement (Desirable).
