Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for somebody to join our leadership team located across Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham and West Runton. We are currently looking for a Countryside Manager to support our important work across the Coast and Countryside.

What it's like to work here

Popular Felbrigg Hall is one of the most elegant country houses in East Anglia. The rolling landscaped park with its lake, woods and waymarked trails is great for family days out and even boasts ‘buggy-friendly’ walking routes. The fine walled garden grows flowers for the house, as well as vegetables for the local community. Roles within Felbrigg Hall’s team are highly sought after, and the team pride themselves on their commitment to the estate.

Sheringham is a beautiful Humphry Repton designed parkland, famed for its vast collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. The 1,000-acre estate boasts colourful wildlife and breath-taking views towards the North Norfolk coast, making Sheringham Park a dream working environment for many. The close-knit team, friendly people and location make for a great place to work.

West Runton is the perfect place for a breezy walk along the hills of North Norfolk. From this point, visitors can enjoy views of Sheringham and surrounding coastal villages.

What you'll be doing

As Countryside Manager you'll lead the Countryside team of Rangers and volunteers in the Felbrigg, Sheringham, and West Runton Countryside portfolio. You'll provide strategy and direction across our countryside sites for your team to deliver exemplary countryside management, conservation, access, and visitor engagement projects at a landscape scale.

A large part of your role will be building and maintaining good working relationships with tenants, neighbours and partner organisations. You'll be an advocate for the Trusts’ work within the local community and will actively seek to engage and develop relationships with community groups.

You'll have overall responsibility for the countryside department finances, both operational and project spend, including oversight of the delivery and administration of agri-environment and woodland grants. This will require the ability to prioritise a large workload, and managing competing and conflicting demands.

You’ll also be part of our on call rota for out of hours cover. This will involve attending the property if the alarm is activated (you’ll need to be available to attend an incident in the property within 20 minutes). An additional on call payment is provided for this service. Further details will be discussed at interview.
