The RSPB is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Land Use Policy team as a Policy Officer. The team covers agriculture, water, forestry and upland policy work and works closely with RSPB colleagues across the UK country to secure more sustainable land management and uses.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and persuasive advocate to join the Land Use Policy team to champion the changes nature needs post Brexit.

In your role as Policy Officer, you will work closely with staff who lead our work in real landscapes, to coordinate policy and advocacy support for the delivery of projects which demonstrate innovative approaches to land management, often in partnership with other stakeholders. These projects will not only seek to deliver exceptional results on the ground, for both nature and people, they will also provide compelling case studies to communicate what is possible, and necessary, to a variety of audiences, from the rspb's members and supporters through to the highest levels of decision making.

Due to the strong project-based nature of the post, you will need to demonstrate your ability to build collaborative relationships, both within and beyond an organisation. Some experience of project planning and management would be highly desirable, although full training will be given where required. You will also need to travel regularly to the areas of the UK where the projects are based.

Successful candidates will need the flexibility and transferable skills to support other areas of work as needed. While the majority of the Land Use Policy team are based at the RSPB's Headquarters in Sandy, we are flexible in terms of this post holder's base.

Closing date: 7 January 2019
