We are looking for an experienced GIS professional to join our London and South East GIS Consultancy team. Specifically using ArcGIS, you’ll obtain and maintain high quality master datasets to underpin the key business systems across the whole of The National Trust. Your hard work will help to support delivery of our strategy and ensure that the objectives set out in our Land, Outdoors and Nature Programme are achieved. Interviews will be held on the 4th February 2019.

Please note the role requires travel from property to property, therefore it is vital that you withhold a British driver’s licence.

What it's like to work here

There’s no other organisation like the National Trust, Europe’s largest conservation body. No other organisation that brings such an incredible array of places and spaces to life. No other organisation with such an extraordinary wealth of talent, expertise and insight. This is why we’ve created the National Trust Consultancy, home to specialists in every field of work: from archaeologists, curators and building surveyors, to volunteering, community involvement and commercial specialists.

As part of the consultancy, you’ll be based at our Chilterns Hub in High Wycombe, although our other hubs at Wisley, Micheldever and Scotney Castle may also be an option. The London and South East region includes a diverse range of properties covering countryside, urban landscapes and inner city houses. In this role there will be opportunities to visit some of the beautiful properties and locations owned by the National Trust.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside GIS Consultants, you’ll create high quality datasets that meet not only our local and regional/country needs, but also our key processes such as legal, financial and business planning across the whole of the National Trust. These datasets will help to support Consultants and (Property) General Managers to make evidence-based decisions.

As part of the GIS Team, you’ll be hands-on in capturing, managing and analysing master datasets and also help them to deliver training and guidance on the GIS and data records management systems to a range of staff and volunteers to ensure they’re able to get the most out of the GIS tools available to them.

Who we're looking for

To be fantastic in this role, you’ll need to have;

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of GIS, especially in digitisation and data capture
  • Great cartographic skills and have the ability to tell stories with maps
  • Studied to degree level in a relevant subject area (e.g. Geography, GIS, Environment/Conservation Science) or equivalent knowledge
  • Demonstrable consulting and analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience of using relational databases and structured query language
  • Great attention to detail
  • Full, clean, driver’s licence
