Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Do you want to join a dedicated team managing the National Forest Estate in the north-east of Scotland? Then this may be the job for you. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has experience of working in forestry programmes to join our Team.

 

The Team is located within north-east Scotland and covers an area of approximately 58,000ha of woodlands. The Team manages a range of sites from urban woodlands on the outskirts of Aberdeen City, to the iconic pine forests in Deeside, managing a diverse range of thinning, harvesting and restocking programmes.

 

This is also an exciting time to join Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) as we transition to Forest & Land Scotland (FLS), an executive agency of Scottish Government.

 

The main regional offices are in Huntly and Dunkeld but there are a number of out posted teams based across the region including at Durris near Banchory where the team covering the central area of the region and this post is based.

The key responsibilities for the role will include:

 

Forest Management Delivery

  • Forest management and estates duties including, but not exclusively, chainsaw work, tree planting, beating-up, weeding, fencing, gates maintenance.

 

Visitor Services Delivery

  • Inspection and maintenance of way-marked trails/ car-parks / picnic areas, recording and rectifying any problems and managing the sites to keep them in a condition which is welcoming (and safe), through vegetation management and litter clearance;
  • Maintenance of signage, waymarking and picnic furniture to a high standard;
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of public events including at our Christmas tree sales centre;
  • An element of weekend working will be an essential requirement for this post.
