Summary

 

We are looking for a suitably experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our team as an Assistant Wildlife Adviser for two years.

 

You will be guided by our Wildlife Advisers to provide support and technical knowledge to our properties, driving higher standards of conservation land management. Your work will directly help to deliver the objectives within our 2025 Strategy to restore a healthy, beautiful natural environment. If you have an ecological background and experience of habitat restoration & creation, an ability to work with a wide range of people to focus on delivery then we want to hear from you!

We are offering an exciting role where you can make a positive difference to some of our 30,000 hectares of land in our London & South East region. This post will be based out of our Chilterns Hub in High Wycombe and you’ll have the opportunity to work on a fantastic range of places across South East England, ranging from the chalk hills of the Chilterns and South Downs, the rich coastal landscapes of the Isle of Wight and the South Coast to the splendour and magnificence of historic estates such as Stowe, and Petworth. Interviews will be on 5th February 2019.

 

What you'll be doing

 

Working under the guidance of our Wildlife Advisers you'll be providing consultancy advice and support to our properties in nature conservation and site management. You’ll support taking forward our best opportunities to improve land management and ensure that all our land is managed in a way that is good for nature and the environment. You’ll be working closely with your consultant colleagues to come up with the best outcomes for nature, considering the wider needs of the Trust and our tenants.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to support our property staff to help drive exemplary nature conservation in our London & South East region.

 

Who we're looking for

 

To excel in this role you'll need to have/be:

  • The ability to provide in depth land management guidance to achieve desired positive outcomes for nature
  • Experience of habitat restoration and creation
  • In-depth knowledge of nature conservation including understanding of external issues, legislation, policy, practice, instructions and guidance
  • Strong consultancy skills of listening, building trust and acting to deliver a high quality service
  • Good inter-personal skills, including a team-working ethic
  • Ability to build effective internal and external relationships with staff, volunteers, tenants and others
  • Strong coaching, training, mentoring & facilitation skills
  • Project management skills with an ability to both manage and engage with multiple projects
  • The skills needed to undertake surveys and translate survey and monitoring data into nature management guidance
  • Ability to interpret and respond to external and internal research, intelligence and analysis
  • A full, preferably clean, driving licence.
