Hours:         37 hours per week


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join Cambridgeshire County Council’s Asset Information Definitive Map Team. Based in the Highways Service, the post holder will enjoy working with in a team to help manage the Council’s Highways, Public Rights of Way and Commons/Town and Village Green Records, developing and promoting the public access for the benefit and enjoyment of the whole community.


With excellent organisational skills and an appetite for learning, you will join a dynamic and multi-disciplined team jointly working to provide a high quality service advising other service colleagues, stakeholders and the public on highway, commons registration and public rights of way records matters.


You will enjoy problem-solving and managing the investigation and processing of diverse definitive map and commons casework, including research using documentary and witness sources, field skills and the making of legal orders. You’ll work in a stimulating environment with the public, partner organisations and developers to secure improvements to Cambridgeshire’s rights of way network through effective partnership working and negotiation.


You should possess essential good map reading and interpretation skills, together with good investigative, analytical and communication skills. Previous experience of working with highway records, historical documents, surveying, relevant legislation or experience of digital mapping is desirable; however training can be provided. Please note that although based at Huntingdon, the post-holder will be expected to travel around the county as required.
