Logo: Woodland TrustSite Manager – Central Scotland

Salary - £26,000 - £30,000

About Us
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on others’ land.

The Role
As Site Manager for Central Scotland you will represent the Woodland Trust locally, managing a diverse portfolio of woodland, particularly urban woodlands, mainly across Central Scotland, in line with the core aims of the Trust. You will ensure the safety of yourself, our visitors, contractors and volunteers, and manage the woodland estate in line with our required standards and guidelines.

You will line manage and work closely with an Assistant Site Manager to help deliver your objectives.

Leading creative woodland management and people engagement projects you will optimise supporter engagement and be a strong advocate for our work, values and beliefs.

The Candidate
With previous experience in land-based management in the conservation or forestry sector in the urban environment and a strong track record of project & budget management, you’ll have experience of building successful relationships with stakeholders, working with contractors and a proven responsibility for the management of Health and Safety within a comparable environment.

You’ll need to be a results focussed individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, be commercially and self-aware and be able to work collaboratively.    You must have a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude and be determined to see the positives from even the most challenging situations.

A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations.  Occasional overnight stays will be required and you’ll be expected to live within a reasonable travel distance of the management area.

What You Can Expect
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
