Bowland Ecology are looking for seasonal field workers/subcontractors for the 2019 survey season (approximately April to September) to assist with and/or lead protected species surveys including great created newts and bats. There is also potential to assist with additional species and habitat surveys, where required. Candidates will show: attention to detail, have an organised and thorough approach to surveys and recording data, be willing to work as part of a team and have excellent communication skills. The role will be mainly field based but some data input and maintenance/cleaning of field equipment may also be required at our base in Clitheroe, Lancashire. Candidates must be willing to work anti-social hours and away from home where required. The majority of work will include nocturnal surveys (dawn and dusk surveys potentially over 4/5 evenings per week).

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

  • Degree (or working towards) in a relevant subject;
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Basic ecological knowledge;
  • Full driving licence and car;
  • Capable of managing own time and workload and dealing with changes at short notice;
  • Bat/amphibian survey experience desirable; and
  • Must be willing to work at night/away from home.

 

Salaries/hourly rate for each position is negotiable and based on experience.
