Within the primary context of a Historic House’s Designed Landscape, the Ranger is responsible for: Public access to and interpretation of the grounds: Educational use of the grounds through a series of walks, talks, events and activities, and working with the Education Team; Conservation and maintenance work, both on their own and with volunteers.


Hopetoun House and its 120 acres of grounds are owned and managed by the Hopetoun House Preservation Trust, an independent charitable trust (SC009760). Hopetoun is open to the public as a five star visitor attraction from Easter to the end of September, though other activities, including the work of the Ranger, carry on throughout the year.


Requirements: Relevant Degree-level education, two-year’s experience in a related sphere, outgoing character.


Desirable: Strimmer experience, spraying certificate, chainsaw certificate, First Aid certificate


Working hours: Usually 9-5 Mon-Fri, with a high level of weekend working and occasional evenings
