Arran Geopark

Ranger

The Lochranza based role, is for a fixed term (April 2018 to September 2019), 30 hours per week at 10.50 per hour.

 

The Arran Geopark Project is underway, with the aim of paving the way for Arran to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. The partnership project is run jointly by the Arran Access Trust, National Trust for Scotland and Lochranza Centre CiC, with funding from the Coastal Communities Fund. The project aims to improve access to, and appreciation of, the unique geology of the island.

 

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Arran Geopark team.

 

The main roles are:-

  • To organize and play a leading role in the Arran Geopark events. (Walks, Festivals, Outreach etc).
  • To help establish an Interpretation Centre at Lochranza Field Centre and other interpretive facilities on Arran.
  • To provide general Ranger support.  

 

Essential requirements are:-

  • A background in geology or earth sciences
  • Self motivation/ enthusiasm for the outdoors.
  • Knowledge of interpretive mediums.
