Habitat Management Assistant / Arb Groundworker

Salary: Starting wage £9.30 per hour depending on experience (we are a Living Wage employer)

Full time, casual hours or 6 month contract available

Who we are:

Greenwillows Associates is a friendly, family-run independent ecological consultancy based near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. We have been running for 17 years. We conduct a wide variety of protected species, arboricultural and habitat surveys across the East and South-East of England as well as providing practical habitat creation/management services. Our clients range from large utility companies, developers and architects through to schools and individual homeowners.

The Role

Duties will include assisting with habitat management and improvement which could include the following:

• Brushcutting and small chainsaw works
• Assisting with creation of log/brick hibernacula
• Assisting with setting up protected species surveys such as reptile and newt surveys.
• Undertaking other tasks as prescribed by the Ecological Manager which could include surveying for protected species such as great crested newts, bats, reptiles, water voles etc. 

Essential Qualifications or Skills:

• NPTC or equivalent
• Brushcutter/Strimmer Certification
• CSCS Card
• Emergency First Aid
• A friendly, team player attitude
• A full driving licence and access to own transport.

Desirable:

• Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting
• Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm
• Woodchipper Certification
