Logo: The Conservation VolunteersCommunity Project Officer

 

This role will support the creation and development of community groups for the conservation management and improvement of Greenspaces in Norwich.

 

You will:

 

  • Engage with local people in caring for their Greenspaces.
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers and ensure they have an enjoyable and rewarding volunteer experience.
  • Develop new community groups and increase the capacity of existing ones through supported activities.
  • Organise and deliver high quality, Practical Environmental Conservation and Food Growing activities that may include habitat management, guided walks, sowing and growing or training sessions.
  • Maintain partner relationships and safe working practices.
  • Manage budget and resources, e.g. vehicle and tools.
  • Maintain records of activities and report to funders as necessary.

 

You will have experience of engaging communities in volunteering opportunities and developing them into sustainable groups. A wide range of practical environmental conservation skills and the personality, aptitude and experience to share them with volunteers of differing abilities is essential. Experience of working with volunteers and of organising conservation projects is necessary. IT literacy and basic financial skills are required and a full driving license is essential. Use of own car would be an advantage.

 

The post is 21 hours per week on a fixed term basis and occasional weekend and evening work is required.
