Salary range: £25,450 to £28,960 per annum including all allowances (depending upon performance and interview)

 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Information Ranger to deliver a comprehensive communication programme across our Open Spaces.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to share information with local people about chalk downland, heaths, meadows, woodlands and historic landscapes; which will promote our nature and heritage conservation work, alongside informal recreation, across our award-winning Open Spaces. At times you will also be helping the site rangers with practical conservation and site management tasks along with routine livestock checks.

 

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills which will enable you to champion our work through leading walks and events, making presentations, producing newsletters, utilising social media and designing interpretation. You should have an appropriate qualification (minimum National Certificate or NVQ Level 2) in environmental management, conservation or interpretation and hold a full driving licence.

 

The working week is based upon an average 37-hour week, including one in three weekends, some evening working and an out-of-hours duty rota.

 

The Merlewood Estate Office is the operational base for the West Wickham and Coulsdon Commons, 6 of the City of Londonís Open Spaces. More information about these sites can be found here, including links to our existing local plans:

The post holder will work from the Merlewood Estate Office in Caterham, Surrey and is required to live locally in a 3-bedroom lodge that is provided for better performance of duties.

 

This unique post requires an individual who is looking to further their career, develop new skills and be at the centre of a team responsible for managing some of the countryís finest open spaces.
