This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with business acumen to develop a plan for the future management of the beautiful historic Stanmer estate in Brighton.

 

About the role

 

Following a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery / Big Lottery Fund we are currently delivering a project which is investing over £7m in the restoration of Stanmer Park – the largest park in Brighton & Hove. As part of this project we are looking for an experienced countryside manager who can work with a range of stakeholders and identify sources of income which will contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of the estate.

 

As a member of an enthusiastic team of parks professionals, you will work collaboratively with our key project partners, Plumpton College and South Downs National Park, to achieve our vision for Stanmer Park.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Confirm the vision for the Stanmer estate and put forward a plan for its future sustainability.
  • Develop income streams and funding opportunities.
  • Manage the Stanmer estate and lead on complex management and maintenance issues.
  • Manage the completion of the National Lottery funded restoration project, including overseeing the activity plan which is a key outcome of the project.

 

Establish and implement the vision for the Stanmer Estate. Identify funding, build strategic relationships and engage stakeholders to develop a wider management plan to encompass the whole Estate.
