21,000 - 23,000 (depending on experience) plus 5% pension contribution.

1 year fixed term (with anticipated continued funding)

 Post will be based with other John Muir Trust staff at the Glasgow Science Centre, Glasgow, and one day per week at National Park Office, Balloch, West Dunbartonshire.


The John Muir Award, the main engagement initiative of the John Muir Trust, is a leading environmental award scheme focused on wild places. With funding support from Scottish Natural Heritage and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, we are recruiting a Scotland Project Manager. This post will build on a five-year partnership with the National Park and join an existing staff team to promote and develop the John Muir Award throughout Scotland.


The post-holder will manage and increase John Muir Award activity in Scotland, primarily with schools but also through the informal education sector. The role will be part of a team meeting specific Scottish Natural Heritage and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park targets, and developing further links with the Scottish curriculum and learning sector.


Applicants must have 2 years project management experience in a relevant role, demonstrate understanding of formal and informal education systems in Scotland and have experience of working effectively with volunteers and young people.  Links with environmental and outdoor learning approaches would be desirable.


A flexible approach, strong organisational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation and an ability to work without supervision are essential for the post.
