Job Purpose:

 

As a member of an Operations Analysis and Reporting team(s), you will provide effective business ownership of NRW’s Water Framework Directive (WFD) ecology and River Habitat Survey (RHS) ecology data. The breadth of ecological data involved may be expanded in future. You will play a key role working with the Development and Innovation Programme and Subject Matter Experts to develop and enhance NRW’s ecology data management solution (KiECO). The role will also include the current business as usual administration and user support of KiECO as part of the WISKI application suite, working alongside the Water Quality Data Specialist and the National Hydrometry and Telemetry Officer (WISKI Management).

 

Job Specific Criteria:

 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area, or the ability to demonstrate comparable technical know-how relevant to the post.

 

  • Display proven ability in the following areas:
    • Managing ecology data in a new IT system
    • Becoming the lead user and expert in a new IT system
    • Managing ecology reference data and metadata

 

  • Previous experience in Evaluating IT and data requirements of business processes that produce and use ecology data
  • Previous experience in developing and maintain relationships with ecology data providers and customers, including developing networks of internal  and external  contacts with users and partner, building strong internal and external relationships with a range of partners/stakeholders  to influence  and gain co-operation of others
  • Key skills in the following areas:
    • Decision making, analytical and problem-solving
    • Written and spoken communication and persuasive oral presentation
    • Being innovative and demonstrate drive to achieve targets
    • Working independently with high standards of Governance demonstrating personal initiative and good organisational skills.
    • Exemplar behaviours in health safety and wellbeing, openness and honesty
  • Membership of a relevant profession body is desirable but not essential: successful applicants will, however, be expected to keep up to date with recent developments in their field. (Desirable)
