The Crown lands of the New Forest are a special place and as land managers the Forestry Commission aims to balance the needs of people, nature and business, and ensure that the public are able to enjoy the forest.


When it comes to managing our woodlands itís a long-term process, and we need dedicated staff to join our teams of working across the New Forest, 365 days a year to ensure that we can protect this valuable and precious place.  The New Forest is designated as a Site Of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). 


Youíll work across the New Forest area Teams completing a wide range of forest management and maintenance tasks to help meet the work commitments and operational targets.


Youíll be utilising your previous work experience and machinery operating skills in order to work in a range of environments. This will involve using a range of tools for controlled burning of vegetation, scrub clearance, mire restoration works, pollarding and coppicing, tree planting, tree felling and the application of herbicides.  Your passion in completing a variety of tasks for the maintenance of the recreational facilities in the New Forest will be reflected in the publicís enjoyment of the New Forest.


More about you

It would be preferable if you have NPTC (or equivalent) certificates and experience in the use of chainsaws, clearing saw, hand held application of herbicides/pesticides and FMOC (Forest Machine Operator Certification) qualifications for the use of tractor base unit, mulcher, scarifier, winch extraction and sprayer.
