Summary

We’ve got a rare opportunity for an experienced Farm Supervisor for our unique site at Llanerchaeron and Ceredigion, looking after organic livestock, including cattle, equines, sheep, pigs and poultry. The role will involve work across a range of sites in Ceredigion and occasional strategic meetings across Wales and the UK.

What it's like to work here

Llanerchaeron is a small historic farm within a designed park landscape and is also a major tourist destination with visitor numbers of around 45,000 in 2017. The farm is an unspoilt example of a self-sustaining small Welsh estate. The parkland is a high nature value farm with a combination of species rich hay meadows and arable rotations managed to encourage biodiversity.

The wider context of the farm encompasses habitat land such as Rhos pasture, small coastal farms and grazed woodland meadows. Many of the sites are designated as SSSI.

What you'll be doing

The role of Farm Supervisor in Ceredigion goes beyond the demands of a usual Farm Supervisor; we have ambitious targets and a desire for nature conservation across the whole property. This role requires an excellent understanding of conservation grazing with cattle, equines and sheep and you'll often be working in partnership with graziers.

You'll be an excellent team player as communication and cooperation with the wider ranger team is crucial in ensuring this role works well. The Farm and Ranger teams especially will be working together on a regular basis.

You'll work at a strategic level to lead and deliver plans to further this work, sharing what you learn with staff, volunteers, visitors, national specialists and industry leaders. As well as this strategic approach, you'll work on the ground with a highly skilled team.
