Advice to anyone looking at similar roles:

You should make the role your own, bringing experiences with you that you probably don’t realise you have. Don’t under-estimate the energy needed to plan for organise and manage a group of school children from 5 yrs. and up, even when teaching staff are present, My role is a “standalone” role so being able to engage the ranger and management teams in what you are trying to achieve is vital.

I am extremely fortunate to work in a team which is dynamic and prepared to be flexible and have been able to include community engagement with the local Police etc as part of my role.
