Job Responsibilities:

• Support businesses to reduce their carbon impact by creating carbon footprints, Net Zero strategies, emissions target setting
• Deliver environmental training to give businesses the theory and information they need to impact their own carbon footprints
• Support businesses with local grant funding to invest in decarbonising technology such as solar panels and heat pumps
• Inform businesses on how they can be more sustainable in areas outside of energy, such as biodiversity, volunteering, health and wellbeing
• Support businesses through environmental standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001

   
Majority of time is spent:

• Report writing
• Calculating carbon footprints
• Building client relationships
• Delivering environmental webinars
• Developing environmental training courses

   
With time spent mainly indoors at a desk, although some site visits are required to find energy inefficiencies on client site.

Qualifications needed: 

Science/environmental degree is useful but not necessary. If no degree, evidence of environmental knowledge is required, such as accredited training or work experience.

Skills needed:

• Basic knowledge of science and maths is useful
• The job is very people facing, so enjoying talking to clients is helpful
• Public speaking is not required by useful
• Report writing
• Attention to detail
• Teamwork

As long as you’re passionate, keen to learn and friendly, there are heaps of resources and guidance out there to help you gather all the knowledge you’ll need. Look on the GHG Protocol or the SBTi websites. It also helps to enjoy talking to people as you’re often on the phone to clients or local councils and suppliers.
