Job Profile: Education Officer (part time role 3 days p/wk)

Job Responsibilities:
Delivering outdoor educational activity days and outreach in line with the core purposes of the Curriculum for Wales and delivering the National Park messaging.
The majority of time is spent doing outdoor education outdoors; delivering environmental activities through the medium of Welsh and English, such as pond dipping, den building, river investigation, trees and carbon storage, guided walks all while encouraging young learners to engage with their environment and to understand the importance of our National Park and how it is conserved for future generations. We also provide an outreach programme, to visit National Park and periphery schools and deliver activities to pupils in their own school grounds. Creating resources to enhance the learning experience. Working with community groups, youth wardens and running a week of work experience each year for school age youngsters interested in a career in conservation etc.

Term time are the busiest periods with school groups while over the school holidays and the winter months there is a focus on outreach, admin etc. Developing new resources for schools and families and working in partnership with other organisations.
Qualifications needed:
Post-graduate Certificate in Education or 3 years relevant experience in the field of education.
Additional training: DBS, Emergency First Aid in the Outdoors and (preferable) Hill and Moorland Leader.
Skills needed: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to create and adapt teaching resources, good organisational skills and able to use own initiative, ideally a good level of IT skills.
