ZSL London Zoo yesterday erected a symbolic sign of appreciation above its iconic Giraffe House - to thank the NHS.
The giant blue and red sign, visible from the road outside the locked down zoo, lit up Regent’s Park on Thursday during the weekly clap for carers.
ZSL London Zoo’s site manager Jamie Turner said: “We see so many brave ambulance staff watching Maggie and Molly the giraffes through the fence on their hasty lunch breaks – so we installed this tribute at their favourite sandwich spot to brighten their day.” He added: “Rather like our giraffes, the NHS is head and shoulders above the rest.”
