Advertise jobs working in waste awareness, sustainability and energy fields

Keeping the whole environment healthy is a core role of all countryside work and many readers are now focusing on the sustainability, waste management, recycling aspects of the environmental sector.   CJS advertised many early "green" jobs and was one of the main sources for Local Agenda 21 roles.  In 1998 2.6% of total jobs advertised with CJS were for Local Agenda 21 projects, rising to a peak of just over 10% in 2004 for all sustainability type roles.

As the sector grew and developed we chose to focus on more countryside based roles.  We continued to post adverts for composters, recycling awareness and of course ecological surveyors at energy farms.  However, in our 2021 readers' survey we received many requests to include more sustainability, recycling, waste reduction, climate and net zero focused roles with over 90% expressing an interest in this area and 11% saying it is their main focus. Additionally 49% of readers who expressed an opinion said they would like to see more coverage of energy related roles e.g. wind and solar farms with 6% stating this is their main focus.

Therefore in response to those requests and level of interest we are once again actively seeking these types of roles to advertise.

In 2022 we created a sustainability sector and filter on the jobs section: Sustainability vacancies: roles involving a significant element of sustainability. This section covers: net zero, nature recovery, biodiversity net gain, nature based solutions and nature capital projects. Green and environment jobs such as composting, waste reduction, recycling initiatives; working on or for energy production sites e.g. solar and wind farms. See what's already advertised here.

Quality over Quantity

CJS has never focused on providing large numbers of applications, instead we've always offered highly targeted advertising. Our readers know that we only accept adverts relevant for our sector and will refuse to accept general, non-sector specific adverts and so CJS has become the trusted countryside specialist. For advertisers we promise high quality, knowledgeable, enthusiastic candidates with a great love for the British countryside and natural world. I'm sure you'd rather be struggling to choose between 10 amazing candidates than wading through 100 average applications.

CJS works with organisations such as TCV and Groundwork to advertise composting and waste and recycling awareness and similar jobs and projects.

If you're looking to contact a countryside, conservation, nature, ecology, education, wildlife professional then CJS really is the place to advertise.

CJS is for more than jobs:

Recent articles have included a feature on Paws for Conservation, detection dogs working on wind farm sites and an introduction to Clean Up Britain (CLUB) the only national campaigning organisation that is 100% focused on confronting litter and fly-tipping.
