Mountain Footpath Worker

Physically fit and very active person required for a team of upland pathworkers, working in mountainous areas of Scotland.  Although this is a short term position from July to end of September 2017, there may be scope for continuous employment if more work becomes available.

 

Suitable applicant will have to be able to work hard in remote locations and be up for the challenge of walking for over an hour on steep uphill terrain before starting work. The team also works an 8 day stint on with 6 days off so the successful applicant will need to be sociable and flexible, and work well in a team. 

 

Although the ideal applicant should have experience in Upland Footpath work using traditional dry stone techniques, enthusiasm and ability to work hard are essential. A full drivers licence is preferred as driving may be part of the duties. Applicants with good experience in neighbouring disciplines ie, landscaping, stonework, estate work, and rangering will be taken seriously, but previous upland footpath work experience is preferred.

 

Please note:- this work is extremely strenuous and physically demanding. 

Rate of Pay is 7.60 per hour to 7.80 per hour (dependent on experience) plus subsistence while on their working stint.
