Ranger - East Coast

Salary: £24,000-£25,600 FTE dependant on experience
Status: Full time Fixed term until end February 2025
Field location: various reserves over East Coast of Scotland
Office location: West Livingston with flexibility and hybrid approach

The role

We are looking for a well organised individual with the skills to deliver a practical and ecological work programme across 17 wildlife reserves. Working with volunteers and contractors this post carries a significant level of responsibility and offers great potential for the right person to make a real impact.

In addition, you will assist the East Central Scotland Reserves Manager by representing the Trust at partnership and other external meetings.

The candidate (Possibly you!):

Applicants should have a background in wildlife conservation including, hands on experience in nature reserve management, community engagement, species surveying and be able to demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm and excellent communication skills.

Essential skills required

  • Full clean driving licence
  • HND or similar level qualification in a relevant subject such as environmental conservation, countryside management or ecology.
  • Minimum of two years working in a similar role – to include experience of land management and coordinating conservation work with contractors and volunteers.
  • Experience of the preparation and implementation of risk assessments
  • Previous experience in using Microsoft office based products (Word, Excel, Microsoft teams)
  • Certificates to use brushcutter, chainsaw, herbicide application are desirable
  • Tree safety Certificate is desirable.
